Come and experience the magic that Switzerland has to offer! From international town Geneva, to the musical town of Montreux, your ride will be filled with beautiful views of Europe’s second-largest freshwater lake, Europe’s highest peak, and of course, plenty of chocolate.
You will be cycling from Geneva to Montreux via Lausanne, Gruyères, and Gstaad!
Although designed with the serious rider in mind, the fact that we can provide e-bikes makes this tour an excellent choice for families or groups of friends.
Welcome to the global city of Geneva! If you fly to Geneva, the airport and the train station are separated by a 10-minute ride. Your hotel is a 10 minutes’ walk from the train station. If you have spare time, make sure to explore Geneva, which we believe is too often overlooked… walk around the old town, stroll down by the lake, or visit one of its many museums
You’ll follow a scenic route, with the lake never far from sight. Your destination is Lausanne, a picturesque city, located on the shores of Lake Geneva. On your way, you will ride through vineyards, small villages, and experience amazing views over the Alps, right across the lake.
Make your way to the village that lends its name to the famous cheese, Gruyères! The route includes a climb from Vevey (500 meters over a 13 km stretch)! If your legs just aren’t feeling it, you can skip this climb by taking a funicular. Once in Gruyères, enjoy picturesque views and medieval architecture including the Castle of Gruyères—a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
As you pedal further into the Swiss Alps, you’ll enter the German-speaking village of Gstaad. As today’s ride is a short one, make sure to walk through this alpine village, a popular destination amongst high society and international jet setters. There are also plenty of hiking trails with varying difficulties to choose from.
“Cycling from Geneva to Montreux” has been designed for the avid rider in mind, hence, get ready for a challenging day of cycling! If you find the climbing to be too daunting, there is the option to take the train from Gstaad to Montreux and do a loop from town. For those who are up for the challenge, Col du Pillon and Col de la Croix will be yours to conquer. The descent down to the valley is simply mesmerizing! Once on the valley floor, you can lunch in class at the UCI World cycling center in Aigle!
